Studentski kulturni centar Kragujevac osnovan je 1984. godine. Pod okriljem je Ministarstva prosvete, nauke i tehnološkog razvoja Republike Srbije kao Ustanova učeničkog i studentskog standarda. Nastao na osnovama Omladinskog kulturno-umetničkog društva pri Univerzitetu 1977. godine, SKC je od samog početka usmeren na saradnju i podršku studentima i mladim stvaraocima, kao i na kreiranje uslova u kojima im je omogućeno da izraze i realizuju svoje kreativne ideje i zamisli, i svoj rad učine vidljivim i prepoznatljivim za širi auditorijum.
Misija Studentskog kulturnog centra Kragujevac je unapređenje delatnosti obogaćivanjem programa, edukacijom, radom na zadovoljenju kulturnih, obrazovnih, umetničkih potreba mladih i podsticanje pre svega studenata, ali i svih ostalih sugrađana na aktivno učestvovanje u kreativnom izražavanju i stvaralaštvu. Kroz svoje programe i aktivnosti ‒ književne, likovne, filmske, muzičke i pozorišne ‒ publici predstavlja savremene tendencije svih vidova umetničkog stavaralaštva, a kroz svoje književno i muzičko izdavaštvo, SKC podstiče i podržava kreativne mlade stvaraoce iz Kragujevca i regiona i pomaže njihovu promociju i afirmaciju. Svoju edukativnu funkciju ostvaruje i kroz brojne radionice i predavanja. Paralelno, negovanjem tradicionalne kulture kroz rad folklornog ansambla doprinosi očuvanju nematerijalne kulturne baštine. Dve galerije koje se nalaze u okviru Studentskog kulturnog centra, Kontakt galerija i Galerija SKC, namenjene su kako izlaganju dela već priznatih i poznatih autora savremene umetničke vizuelne scene, tako i pružanju podrške mlađim generacijama autora u njihovom pozicioniranju na umetničkoj sceni, pre svega kroz predstavljanje radova studenata završnih godina i diplomaca fakulteta i akademija umetnosti. Izborom radova od strane umetničkog saveta galerija, likovni program SKC-a na jedan konzistentan način upoznaje publiku sa raznovrsnim fenomenima, kretanjima i produkcijom savremene likovne scene. Muzički program Studentskog kulturnog centra karakteriše stilska i žanrovska raznovrsnost koncerata koje organizuje i otvorenost za najaktuelnije pravce savremene muzičke scene. Pored koncerata džeza, muzike sveta, pop, rok, eksperimentalne i elektronske muzike, organizuju se i koncerti ozbiljne muzike, prvenstveno u saradnji sa studentima muzičkih akademija i fakulteta. Muzičke izdavačke aktivnosti SKC-a postoje od 2011. godine i odraz su podrške talentovanim mladim muzičarima da svoje prvo izdanje predstave stručnoj i široj javnosti. SKC je svojim muzičkim aktivnostima, 2017. godine, dodao i negovanje horskog pevanja kroz rad mešovitog hora −Kragujevačkog pevačkog društva.
Književnim programom i izdavačkom delatnošću SKC ostvaruje saradnju sa poznatim imenima savremene književne scene, ali i otvara prostor za predstavljanje književnih ostvarenja još uvek neafirmisanih autora. Organizuju se književne večeri i govorne tribine sa ciljem predstavljanja aktuelnih književnih dela, književnih i naučnih časopisa. U okviru izdavačke delatnosti Ustanove, pored brojnih izdanja, izdvaja se najnagrađivanija edicija Prvenac, započeta 2002.godinekao prilika za talentovane mlade autore iz čitavog regiona da objave svoje prve književne radove. Pozorišna produkcija i rad Akademskog pozorišta i Dramske sekcije Studentskog kulturnog centra Kragujevac predstavljaju okvire unutar kojih mladi zaljubljenici u pozorišnu umetnost i kreativci mogu da iskažu svoju stvaralačku energiju i pronađu i uobliče svoj umetnički izraz. Pored amaterskog bavljenja pozorišnom umetnošću, SKC organizuje i gostovanja profesionalnih pozorišta, dramske radionice i ostvaruje saradnju sa nizom drugih amaterskih pozorišta, a sve sa ciljem razvoja i edukacije pozorišne publike. Razvoju pozorišnog amaterizma od 2015. godine doprinosi i festival takmičarskog karaktera − Kulisa, koji okuplja akademska i amaterska pozorišta iz zemlje i regiona. Takođe, kroz višedecenijsko postojanje i rad Akademskog folklornog ansambla „SvetozarMarković”, Narodnog orkestra i Pevačke grupe „Studenac”, SKC doprinosi očuvanju kulturnog nasleđa i negovanju tradicionalnih formi igara i pesama. SKC svojom delatnošću doprinosi kulturnom diverzitetu, kulturnom životu grada, aktivno sarađujući sa relevantnim ovdašnjim i međunarodnim institucijama kulture, umetničkim i obrazovnim institucijama.
Popularizacijom kulturnih aktivnosti, intelektualnih i kreativnih potencijala i inovacija Studentski kulturni centar nastoji da bude prepoznat kao moderna, dinamična ustanova,otvorena za nove ideje i nove tendencije u umetnosti i kulturi našeg vremena.

Student Cultural Center Kragujevac was founded in 1984. It is under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia as the Institution of Secondary education and Student standard. Founded on the foundation of the Youth Cultural and Art Society with the University in 1977, from the very beginning SCC has been focused on cooperation and support for students and young creators, as well as creating conditions in which they would be able to express and realize their creative thoughts and ideas, and make their work visible and recognizable for a wider auditorium.
The mission of the Student Cultural Center Kragujevac is to improve the cultural scene by enriching the program, by educating, by working on meeting the cultural, educational and artistic needs of young people and encouraging students, but also all other citizens, to participate actively in artistic expression and creativity. Through its programs and activities – literary, artistic, film, music and theater – SCC presents contemporary tendencies of all aspects of artistic creativity to the audience, and through its literary and music publishing, SCC encourages and supports creative young people from Kragujevac and the region and helps their promotion and affirmation. SCC also exercises its educational function through numerous workshops and lectures. At the same time, by nurturing a traditional culture through the work of the folklore ensemble, it contributes to the preservation of the intangible cultural heritage.
The two galleries of the Student Cultural Center, the Contact Gallery and the SCC Gallery, are dedicated to the exhibition of works of already recognized and well-known authors of the contemporary artistic visual scene, as well as providing support to the young generations of authors in their positioning on the art scene, primarily through presenting the works of students of the final years and graduates of the faculties and art academies. With the selection of works by the galleries’ art council, SCC art program consistently introduces the audience to various phenomena, movements and production of the contemporary art scene.
Music program of Student Cultural Center is characterized by the style and genre variety of the concerts that it organizes, and by the openness to the most prominent styles of the contemporary music scene. Apart from the concerts of jazz, world music, pop, rock, experimental and electronic music, concerts of serious music are also organized, primarily in cooperation with students of music academies and faculties. SCC’s music publishing activities have been around since 2011 and they are a reflection of the support for talented young musicians to present their first edition to the professional and general public. In 2017, SCC added the choral singing to its musical activities, through the work of mixed choir – the Kragujevac Singing Society.
Through its literary program and publishing activity SCC cooperates with famous names of the contemporary literary scene, but also opens up space for presenting literary works of still unrecognized authors. Literary evenings and debates are organized in order to present current literary works, literary and scientific journals. In the publishing activity of the SCC, besides numerous other publications, the most awarded one stands out – „Prvenac“ edition, which was first published in 2002 as an opportunity for talented young authors from all over the region to publish their first literary works.
The theater production and work of the Academic Theater and the Drama section of the Student Cultural Center Kragujevac represent the framework for young lovers of theater arts and creatives to express their creative energy and find and shape their artistic expression. In addition to amateur engagement in theater arts, SKC also hosts performances of professional theaters, drama workshops and cooperates with a number of other amateur theaters with the aim of developing education of the theater audience. The development of theater amateurism since 2015 is also contributed by the competitive festival – „Kulisa“, which gathers academic and amateur theaters from the country and the region.
Also, through the decades of existence and the work of the Academic Folklore Ensemble “Svetozar Marković”, the National Orchestra and the “Studenac” Singing Group, SCC contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage and the cultivation of traditional forms of dances and songs.
SCC through its work contributes to cultural diversity and cultural life of the city, actively cooperating with relevant local and international institutions of culture, art and educational institutions.
By popularizing cultural activities, intellectual and creative potentials and innovations, the Student Cultural Center strives to be recognized as a modern, dynamic institution, open to new ideas and new trends in the arts and culture of our time.
